Csilla VályiThe cellist Csilla Vályi graduated from the Liszt Academy of Music as a student of Miklós Perényi; she studied chamber music at the same institution with György Kurtág and Ferenc Rados. At that time she regularly performed contemporary music  with the "New Music Studio" and "Intermodulation" ensembles. For two years she was engaged in string quartets with a grant by Soros foundation; she also participated in concert series organised by the National Philharmonia. As a member of chamber ensembles playing on period instruments (Concerto Armonico, Capella Savaria, Orfeo Orchestra, Affetti Musicali) she has given concerts in almost every European country since 1991 and has made several CD recordings as a partner to renowned singers (Mária Zádori, Judith Németh, Martin Klietmann, Derek Lee Ragin, Nicholas Clapton, Jill Feldmann, Rosa Mannion). She is a regular guest performer at the Early Music Days of Sopron and at the “Haydn at Eszterháza” Festival where she also participated in the concerts of Sergiu Luca, Simon Standage, Bart Kuijken and Miklós Spányi. She is one of the founding members of Trio Rubin, Trio Antiqua and of the chamber music workshop "Ad libitum", established in 1999. They provide an opportunity for her to perform (in addition to the exciting task of continuo playing) not only classical masterworks but gems of Romantic music as well and, through it, to widen her repertoire on the modern cello continuously, up to the music of our days. She has been the leader cellist of Orfeo Orchestra since 1994, and she is also member of the Authentic Quartet, founded in 2002.
